About RPG Risort Power Generation


During 2010 a wholly owned trading subsidiary Risort Power Generation Ltd. was established. The trading arm built, owns and operates a 900kW turbine on behalf of Horshader Community Development, with all residual profit being gifted to the trust for community benefit. 2012 saw the construction and completion of the wind turbine with the official opening taking place on the 19th of October that year.


The RPG Directors are:


David Wright

David trained as a mechanical engineer in power generation with South of Scotland Electricity Board, going on to work in various branches of engineering both in the UK and abroad. He moved into management as engineering manager for Pelican Steel Pipes in South Africa and then moved to Venezuela, where he was engineering and special projects manager with SOLTUCA Venezuela. Following his return to the UK, he has held senior managerial positions in beverage can manufacture with Crown Cork and Seal Inc.. The latter part of his time in can manufacture was spent as a consultant production engineer with Continental Can International, working on joint ventures, in various world locations. Prior to moving to Lewis, David held an engineering management position within food processing with Grampian Country Foods (Halls) Ltd. He came to South Shawbost in 1997 and has been on the Common Grazings Committee for 12 years, eight of them as clerk. David was head of engineering with Fjord Seafood Scotland Farming Ltd. before retiring due to health problems in 2008, and is currently chair of Horshader Community Development and chair of Energy Cooperative Hebrides. He lives in South Shawbost with his wife Brenda Stewart.


Iain MacArthur

Iain MacArthur is 40yrs old and one of our youngest RPG directors. He is a Senior Chartered building surveyor with Tighean Innes Gall and a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. He was previously an Associate Director within an international property consultancy firm. Iain lives in Shawbost, Isle of Lewis.
